‘Chanakya’, starring Gopichand in the lead was a movie released in 2019. Anil Sunkara produced the file and Thiru has directed it. Mehreen is the lead actress and Zareen Khan essayed a crucial role. Let’s take a dive into the analysis, review and ratings of the movie in this blog –
Chanakya Movie Story.
Chanakya is a meandering drama, which seems puzzled as if the director Thiru tries to portray a spy-thriller that takes itself way too seriously or a commercial drama that has a little bit of everything. The movie falls somewhere in the middle, neither does it entertain you nor keep you at the edge of your seat. The film traces the journey of an undercover RAW agent, Arjun (Gopichand) who knows how to do tough missions. Arjun works in the mission with another agent who is closely linked to the ISI militant leader, Qureshi.
RAW plans to capture Qureshi, who was behind some of India’s greatest terrorist attacks. Despite being known that Qureshi is in Pakistan, RAW feels powerless. Arjun goes to Syria to the nab of a key gang member of Qureshi’s gang in one of his missions. It takes him on a voyage that puts him face to face with Sohail (Upen Patel), the son of Qureshi. How does Arjun capture Qureshi? How does he enter Syria? What role does Zareen Khan play in the more? To Get the answers to these questions, you’d have watched the movie.
Chanakya movie review.
In a traditionally mas-hero style, Gopichand played the role of a RAW official. In his usual manner, Gopichand presented the character. He is the show-stealer in the entire movie. Gopichand always does justice to his role. Mehreen’s character as his love interest is too stupid and dumb. Her role is mediocre and acting is average. Her chemistry with Gopichand is good in the movie. It’s better if we do not speak about the role of Mehreen and Zareen Khan as Raw informer in Pakistan. Rest of the supporting cast made their presence felt.
Nasser as RAW’s chief fits okay. The villains have fitted nicely in their place. Many Indian films have been influenced by Hollywood films and have generally adopted their spy and thriller genre pattern. But “Chanakya” is quite the opposite. Not only is this spy thriller dull, but in the end, it seems like a mess. In this movie, the Villain speaks power-packed punchline called ‘Expect the unexpected’ and hero speaks bizarre lines.
Two pet dogs are part of the plot. A vets’ (Ali’s) doctor informs Mehreen that a female puppy is needed to fit her pet-dog. He first declines to accept the mothering of his dogs and she attempts to persuade Gopichand with all manner of conversations (condoms, paying money for hours, booking resorts, etc). They fall in love at the end of this long and horrible road! That’s the quality of writing for this film. Fortunately, in the second half, we’re not getting any lazy scenes. But nor do we get a lot of fascinating scenes. That’s all about the Chanakya review. At the end of the movie, you are going to curse yourself for watching an awful movie. Chanakya ratings are 5.4/10 by IMDb and 2.5/5 by The Hans India.
