Rudrapur is the administrative centre of the Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Rudrapur is located in the rich Terai plains in the southern portion of Kumaon division, approximately 250 kilometres (160 miles) northeast of New Delhi and 250 kilometres (160 miles) south of Dehradun. According to the 2011 Indian census, it has a population of 140,857 people, making it the fifth most populated city in Uttarakhand.

Pantnagar Airport is located 12.2 kilometres (7.6 miles) from the city centre. The Airports Authority of India operates the airport, which serves domestic flights to Delhi and Dehradun.

Rudrapur’s train service began in 1886, with the building of a branch line by Rohilkund and Kumaon Railway linking Lalkuan on the Bareilly-Kathgodam line with Rampur.

Rudrapur is served by three main national roads. Rudrapur is located on National Highway 9, which connects Malaut in Punjab to Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. The Rudrapur Bus Station acts as the principal bus station for Uttarakhand Transport Buses that go on InterState Routes from the city. The station was constructed before the 1960s and covers around 4 acres.
