The Tata Power Company Limited (51% of the total equity of TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited, or TPWODL) is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha. The Discom TPWODL has a Customer Base of over 21 lac, and it serves 88 lac people. It has a huge distribution area in western Odisha that spans nine revenue districts, including Bargarh, Bolangir, Deogarh, Jharsuguda Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur Sonepur, and Sundergarh, and measures 48,373 square kilometres. It purchases power from GRIDCO at several supply locations at 33KV, and it maintains vast overhead networks at 33KV, 11KV, and LT to distribute electricity over its full region of operation.
In Odisha, Tata Electricity and the Government of Odisha have a joint venture for power distribution in each of the four zones: TPWODL for Western Odisha, TPSODL for Southern Odisha, TPNODL for Northern Odisha, and TPCODL for Central Odisha (for Central Odisha respectively). Tata Power holds a 51% ownership in each of these four distribution businesses, making it the largest shareholder. More than 1.2 billion electrical users in India receive their electricity from Tata Power under its distribution umbrella (Mumbai, Delhi, Ajmer, Central Odisha, Western Odisha, Northern Odisha and Southern Odisha).
